Article by Phoenix writer Colleen Bayley ’23:
The annual Latin School Halloween Dance took place on Friday, October 28th, with lots of games, dancing, and treats. The dance took place in the Queen of Apostles courtyard from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Sophomore Jude Hassett played energetic music as the event’s D.J., with freshman John Gaffney as the M.C.
There were various activities including a pie-eating contest, a “guess the amount of candy corn” competition, and games where students could “mummy-wrap” their teacher or Marianist Leader. There was also a piñata that was filled with tons of candy for the students to break open.
Refreshments, such as cookies, chips, and sodas, were served throughout the night.
Marianist Leader for Homeroom 8C, senior Micaela Maywald, commented on the experience saying, “What I love about the Latin School Dance is that I get to know my homeroom outside of the classroom, and I love seeing them have fun with their friends.”
Near the end of the dance, Mrs. Page announced the winners for the costume contests. The winner for the best original costume was sixth-grader Luke Scatamacchia as Edward Scissorhands. The Candy Corn Guessing game winner was seventh grader Izabella Ben-Shetrit. Congratulations to all the winners!
