Article by Phoenix writer Lauren DeRiggi ’24:

In Spring 2022, Kellenberg Memorial High School began construction on a new entryway for the school’s main entrance. This work is a product of the Spreading Our Wings campaign, which has allowed Kellenberg to expand spiritually, academically, and athletically. The new entryway was designed to create a more open and campus-like environment, while making it abundantly clear that Kellenberg Memorial is a Catholic school rooted in the Marianist tradition.

The center of the entryway has a statue of Mary depicting Our Lady of the Pillar. This statue was selected by the Marianists because Blessed William Joseph Chaminade found his inspiration to begin the Marianist order at this shrine in Zaragoza, Spain.

This Mary statue found at the center of the entranceway has been generously gifted to Kellenberg Memorial by the Cipriano family. It permits the passage to encapsulate the spiritual and aesthetic features of Kellenberg Memorial. Mr. Conrade, Chief Operating Officer at Kellenberg, elaborates, “The goals were to create an open and more modern feeling campus and to make the entrance way identifiable with the Marianist mission and the Catholic experience.”

Although the construction of this entryway is not yet complete, it has greatly enhanced the school’s property and has been a beautiful new addition to campus. If you have not had a chance to view the new entrance, please take a look at the linked video.
