Sophomore Meghan Lazzarini represented Kellenberg Memorial High School at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference (HOBY) at Adelphi University on May 2-4.
Throughout the weekend at HOBY, Meghan Lazzarini was grouped with several other sophomores also from New York and took part in many activities such as teamwork and communication focused games, community service, and created a passion project on a relevant social issue.
HOBY allowed Meghan to identify her leadership strengths and taught her how to effectively work with a diverse group of peers.
In addition to the activities, Meghan enjoyed forming friendships with her group members and the other people she met at the conference.
Meghan explained, “ This experience created so many fun memories, as well as taught me skills I will utilize throughout my high school career.”
Each spring, 10,000 high school sophomores from across the country participate in one of HOBY’s State Leadership Seminars to develop their leadership skills and learn how to apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace, and community.
