Article by Phoenix writer Paulina Barnjak ’24:

On March 8th, an impactful XLT event was held. Mr. Harris was featured as the speaker and Father Tom served as the priest. The evening began with a dinner in the cafeteria, where students had the chance to connect with one another and meet new people.

Following dinner, students made their way to the auditorium where they were given another opportunity to socialize before the Maranist Life Members introduced the Adoration Session. The XLT band, led by Mr. Bursig, performed a selection of moving songs to set the tone for Adoration.

Father Tom started the session with an opening prayer before Mr. Harris delivered his powerful speech. Following the speech, Father Tom led Adoration and offered confession to anyone in need. The XLT band continued to provide a peaceful atmosphere for the students to connect with God.

Damien Sileo ‘24 shared his experience of the night, stating, “This XLT was very calming and I felt very refreshed after.” The evening concluded with a closing prayer and the singing of the Salve Regina. Students were then given the opportunity to speak with Mr. Harris about his speech in the main lobby. This XLT event helped many students grow closer to God, as well as their peers.
