Article by Phoenix writer Sophia Paulich ’24:

On Friday, February 10th, Kellenberg held its third annual “Souper” Bowl, where students had the opportunity to display a true act of altruism before the Super Bowl game.

Students were asked to support a canned soup drive in order to help those who are less fortunate. For the week leading up to the event, students were able to drop off their donations in the lobby.

Students were also encouraged to wear their favorite football jersey during the school day on February 10th.

Senior Lauren Babich shared, “It feels great to be able to give back to those who are not as fortunate as we are.”

All contributions were distributed among parishes where Kellenberg alumni serve as priests, such as the Church of St. Mary in Islip, St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre, and the Franciscans in the Bronx.

This act of giving allowed students to feel empathy, take responsibility, and experience the importance of helping others while working together for a common cause.
