Article by Phoenix writer Delaney Clark ’25:

On Thursday October 20, the sophomore class took part in Kellenberg’s annual A.N.O.I.N.T. Day. It is a special day filled with prayer, games, and reflection to help remind students to say ‘Yes!’ to God.

To remind them to answer God’s call, each student was given a shirt with a quote from St. Mother Teresa on it: “Do something beautiful for God. Do it with your life. Do it everyday. Do it your own way. But do it!”

The day started off with a presentation by the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. The presentation made students aware of all the negative effects substance use can have on the life of a teenager or adult, especially while their brain is still developing.

After the presentation, Mass was said in the gym by Fr. Thomas Cardone, S.M. The rest of the day was filled with kickball, gaga ball, cornhole, football, and carnival games.

During the day, each homeroom had the opportunity to listen to Miss Doodian and Marianist Life leaders talk about their own ‘Yes!’ to God.

To finish off the day, the whole sophomore class came together in the auditorium for Eucharistic Adoration. During the ceremony, many of Kellenberg’s clubs and sports were recognized with members who brought up a memento and presented it to the monstrance.

Sophomore Kate Murphy noted, “I felt so fortunate to have this day devoted to our faith where we got to have fun with our friends.”

This year’s A.N.O.I.N.T. Day was certainly a faith-filled and memorable experience that the sophomore class won’t be forgetting any time soon.
