On October 9, students and parents gathered on Mitchel field, all dressed in blue, ready to cheer on the Kellenberg Memorial Varsity Football Team at Homecoming. The evening before the big game, the team attended a 5 PM mass at St. Agnes. During the game, Devin Page, Ethan Cumming, and Claude Albert Makelele all scored touchdowns for the Firebirds. Dylan Page and Colin Mitacek led the defensive line, each recording tackles for loss, while linebacker Jack Ligarzewski led the team in tackles and recorded a sack. The cheer team helped keep morale high and performed alongside the dance team at half-time..
Mr. Meisse, the Varsity Football Associate Head Coach, said “The team is very appreciative of all the fans that came out to the game. We have been lucky to play in front of very large and enthusiastic home crowds all year at the Birds Nest and Sunday was another great example of how great the Firebird Family is.”
Carolina Ginebra ‘23 said “I love the atmosphere of support that our school brings to every game and Homecoming was no different. Being in the student section and cheering on the team with my friends was so fun.”
Holy Trinity won the game with a final score of 28 to 19.
