Kellenberg’s High School Spanish Club originated 20 years ago, making it one of the first clubs since the school’s opening. The Spanish Club participates in many enjoyable activities, such as karaoke, Kahoots, movies, arts and crafts, and more. Prayer services are also incorporated occasionally.

The students celebrate all Spanish holidays, especially Day of the Dead. Other Holidays, including Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Halloween are celebrated as well.

“Spanish club is always a fun experience where we share lots of cultural activities and great times!” says Mrs. Borruso, co-moderator of the club along with Mrs. Arias.

Occasionally, members cook traditional Spanish foods such as empanadas, quesadillas, pico de gallo, and more in the Emmanuel kitchen. During Language Week at Kellenberg, the Spanish club greets students as they walk in the lobby wearing sombreros.

The President and Vice President, senior Lauren Mazariegos and junior Zachary Vogt, were selected at the beginning of the school year; they plan the club’s events weekly. Junior Zachary Vogt says, “Spanish Club is a great way to meet new people. We have fiestas and gain knowledge of Spanish culture.”

Spanish Club meets at Room 241 on Wednesdays at 3 o’clock and is open to all juniors and seniors. New members are always welcome!
