On Thursday, May 16, the Junior class participated in the annual Junior Blood Drive through New York Blood Center. For most of them, this was the first time they’ve been able to participate in giving the gift of life through a blood donation. Their donation also comes during a critical blood shortage in New York State. In total, 199 units were collected from students and faculty who participated. Of those donations, 38 were made on the ALYX machine, which doubles the impact of a blood donation by collecting twice the red blood cells. The donations collected at this blood drive are able to help 597 individuals. Juniors will also have another opportunity to donate blood in the fall as seniors during the fall blood drive. Thank you to all who made this day a success!
