Article by Rachel Harrington ’18:
“Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return”. This Wednesday, February 14, the entire student body and faculty gathered together to receive ashes for the start of Lent. Throughout the day prayer services are held to commemorate the beginning of Lent. Father Thomas Cardone, S.M. presided over the service, while the Gregorian Consortium sang beautiful reflective songs. Marking the sign of the cross on everyone’s foreheads with ashes, the senior Eucharistic Ministers blessed the entire school. Students and teachers were given a cross made out of two nails to remind us of Jesus on the cross and the sacrifices made for the whole human race. With the entire school wearing these crosses and wearing the ashes of Lent, it was a true witness to our faith in Christ as we begin this holy season.
