Article by Veronica Tadross ’21:

On Friday, December 1, the altar in the Maria Regina Chapel was adorned with an arc of candles and the monstrance in preparation for Eucharistic Adoration. The first Friday of every month all day Adoration occurs in the chapel for students to take a break from the rigorous activities of the day and embrace a sense of serenity with Christ.

On the first Friday of the month, students gather in this chapel for traditional midday prayer, where they are able to pray the Divine Office led by senior students. Adoration offers a different version of midday prayer, where students and teachers are able to kneel before Christ for both individual contemplation and group prayer. Students can come before their lunch periods, and often teachers will choose to bring their classes to the chapel for their class period, where they are given a special opportunity to pray individually and listen to songs of praise and petition.

This is a truly unique experience to take part in any time of the year and has been particularly beneficial to calm down from the stress of the Christmas season, and instead embrace a feeling of longing and joy for the coming of Christ.
