Article by Jacklyn Decady ’19:

On Thursday, October 26, 2017, Kellenberg Memorial High School celebrated a school-wide Mass to commemorate the closing of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Society of Mary. The Society of Mary was founded by Blessed William Joseph Chaminade in 1817. Fr. Albert Bertoni, S.M., the celebrant of the Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Mass, observed the bicentennial celebration in his Gospel Homily of the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyards, which reminded students that God’s math does not equate to human math, and we are all equal in God’s eyes.

In the background, Kellenberg’s liturgical choir, the Gregorian Consortium, provided music for the Mass with their talented voices. Fr. Philip Eichner, S.M., celebrated the Mass for the Freshmen class and remarked, “Today, we formally concluded the bicentennial celebration of the foundation of the Marianists, and we pray that God will continue to bless us and keep the missionary efforts of Blessed Fr. Chaminade alive at Kellenberg Memorial. Our theme was being laborers in the Vineyard of the Lord, as all those who have gone before us. We pray that as laborers, and Christian witnesses, we will always bear fruit, not only by our words but by the quality of our lives.”
