This past Saturday at Van Cortland park the Kellenberg Firebirds boys cross country team surged to a victory at the Regis Invitational. With the varsity squad returning four of the top seven runners from last years team they were poised to start the season strong. The Firebirds took the top spot with 69 points in front of second place Byram Hills 104 points. The team also had the fastest average time of the entire meet.
Junior Josh Michel led the way for the Firebirds with a 4th place finish at (13:34.76), and right behind him was senior David Lozipone coming in 6th place at (13:38.13). Rounding out the top seven was Francis O’Brien, Dylan Ambroise, Evan Forero, Thomas McKenna, and Andrew Suarez. The Firebirds look to keep its winning ways alive when they head to Jackson, NJ on Sept.30, to compete at the Six Flags Invitational.
