On Thursday, April 25 from 3:15 to 3:45 P.M., the Body, Mind, & Heart Club hosted the “Let’s Walk, Let’s Talk” outdoor event in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. Over 100 students and 10 faculty members joined together on Matthew Field to walk the track, spread awareness on mental health matters, and make participants more aware of the realities surrounding them.

Mr. Lyons, one of the event organizers, shared, “It’s a way to bring a variety of different students together from different grade levels and put an emphasis on the importance of our own mental health.”

Members of the Body, Mind, & Heart Club gave out bags containing cards with words of affirmation on them. The little sayings like “Speak kindly to yourself,” “You are amazing,” and many more were successful in putting a smile on many faces.

Participants were joined by members of C.R.O.S.S., Health Science Club, Fashion Club, and the Lacrosse teams.

When asked what the event was all about, Junior Grace Augustin, a member of the Health Science Club, commented, “This is about expressing our feelings and learning more about mental health.”

Mr. Krug, a moderator of Junior and Senior C.R.O.S.S., shared, “I’m a guidance counselor, so I definitely realize that it’s an important thing that people should be able to deal with their mental and physical health, which are important aspects of every person.”

By combining many grades and clubs together, this event allowed for connections with people that participants wouldn’t usually get to make.

Ms. Urbanski, the school social worker, said, “In the past, we’ve had some kids who really enjoyed it and made friends while they’re here.”

The “Let’s Walk, Let’s Talk” event was extremely meaningful due to the participants’ positive attitudes throughout the experience, leaving them with unforgettable memories and valuable life lessons.
