Article by Phoenix writer Sophia Barnjak ’24:

On January 18, a representative group of 32 Kellenberg juniors and seniors traveled on a 5 hour bus ride to Washington D.C. to participate in the March For Life.

The students began their trip with a visit to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Here, they had discussions with Holocaust survivors and observed displays that depicted the horrors of World War II, which reminded them that all life is valuable and needs to be protected. Then, the group visited historical places such as the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.

The next day, the students represented Kellenberg at the march in front of the U.S. Capitol building. Hundreds of parishes, schools, and other groups showed immense support for the cause. Catholics nationwide gathered to protest against the murder of human lives through abortion.

Senior Paulina Barnjak, who went on the march, shared, “This trip was very important to me because of our mission as Catholics to love and promote life. Life is very sacred from conception to death. It breaks my heart that people won’t let the little hearts beat.”

Bro. Michael Gillen said, “Kellenberg Memorial’s yearly participation in the National March for Life is a joy-filled and peaceful rally. Together, we gather to celebrate life!” He continued to speak about the march’s success as the largest annual human rights demonstration in the world and how it celebrates the 1973 decision of Roe v. Wade.

Participating in the March for Life is a proud Kellenberg tradition where students and faculty can deepen their Faith and advocate for those who cannot protect themselves.
