Deacon Harold Inspires Students with Wisdom on Relationship, Intimacy, and Holiness

Guest speaker Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers addressed the student body in two separate presentations on Thursday, February 15.

Throughout the dual-assembly, Deacon Harold touched upon the topics of love, relationships, marriage, and family aiming to connect with the young crowd by making the discussion relatable and enjoyable.

Grades 6-9 listened to Deacon Harold’s “Living a Eucharistic Life: The Big Deal About Mass.” from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Squire Merci Andino said, “Anyone who attended this assembly would be able to attest that the Deacon truly understands students and was eager to help and guide them through their teenage years.”

Sophomores, juniors and seniors sat for Deacon Harold’s talk on “Theology of the Body for Teens: Relationships, Intimacy, and Holiness.”

Junior Kostas Handakas said, “The Deacon was able to take a seemingly uncomfortable subject and add a touch of humor and enthusiasm in order to turn it into a fun and meaningful presentation.”

With unflagging energy, Deacon Harold also addressed KMHS parents later that evening and KMHS faculty and staff at a professional development day the next morning.

Over the twenty-eight hours Deacon Harold addressed the school community, he proved to be an energetic and dynamic speaker, captivating and holding the attention of viewers ranging from preteens to senior citizens.

Deacon Harold’s talks bring Jesus into the context of everyday relationships and offered valuable guidance on navigating teenage life.
